Introduction:
The Bits of Good community kicked off the semester with a series of events designed to bring members together, spark creativity, and, most importantly, have fun. These activities created space for both new and returning members to connect.
Flower Making:
Bits of Good Lift Off starts out strong with a relaxing and creative flower making event, hosted together by the Marketing, Operations, and Non-profit partnership teams! Boggers sought retreat from the rays of a warm Friday afternoon to wield wonderful botanical creations out of pipe cleaners and beads - all whilst chatting about the exciting events BOG has in store. Members got to know each other as they chatted about shared interests and hobbies, creating an environment that fosters a sense of community and, most certainly, family.
Paper and Clay:
To continue on the creative path, the Bits of Good Design and Brand teams provided members the opportunity to express themselves through ceramics at Georgia Tech’s Paper and Clay center. On Wednesday, participants had the chance to personalize premade ceramic pieces, painting them with their unique artistic flair. With a wide variety of colors and tools at their disposal, members were able to relax and let their imagination take over, morphing plain ceramics into distinct and special pieces. The event provided a space away from looming deadlines and other pressures, allowing members to connect with others through artistic expression. The room was filled with laughter, conversation as people shared their ideas and applauded each other’s pieces. Each painting, whether it was intricate or bold, displayed a unique expression of each member's individual creativity. All in all, the Paper and Clay event was a good way for everyone to unwind and a great success for everyone involved. The event allowed for everyone to tap into their inner artist without any limits.
The Tournament:
To spice things up, Engineering and Product hosted The Tournament, featuring friendly battles of Mario Kart and Just Dance (at least, once our engineers got the Switches working) on the last Friday of January. Dozens of Boggers - from Engineering Managers who’ve supported BoG for four years to inspired new developers - hung out with the community and enjoyed a variety of snacks and prizes. An hour into the event, some Boggers diverted themselves to games of ping pong and pool to take their eyes off the screen, while others huddled to catch up on each other's lives and get to know more people. During this time, some Engineering Managers reported that they love BoG because they resonate with other Boggers who have a shared passion for social good. Event organizers Alexa and Uma exemplified the distinct paths they took as college freshmen to their collaboration as Director and Associate Director of Engineering, respectively.
Conclusion:
With such a vibrant start to the semester, the energy from these events is sure to carry through the rest of the semester. Whether through creative outlets, friendly competition, or simple moments of connection, Lift Off reminded us why Bits of Good is more than just a club—it’s a community. As we dive into new projects and initiatives, we’ll continue to build on this momentum, making an impact together.
